Your account
How to delete a MACS account, what is deleted, and what your care team must keep.
MACS is used by two kinds of people, and the way an account is deleted is different for each. Find the one that describes you below.
Open the MACS: IW app and go to Settings → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm, and the deletion happens immediately.
The app tells you exactly what will happen before you confirm:
That is the whole of it: the account that signs you in is gone, and the record of your care stays where it has always been — with the case manager coordinating your workers’ compensation claim.
If you cannot sign in, or you would rather not do it yourself, email macs@somaaillc.com from the email address the account uses and ask us to delete it.
We send the request to your case manager’s organization, which administers your account. Sending from the account’s own address is how we confirm the request is yours — we cannot act on a deletion request for an account we cannot connect you to.
If you no longer have access to that email address, say so in your message and we will tell you what else we can accept.
Accounts on the MACS: CM app and the MACS web application belong to the organization that issued them — a case-management company, an insurer, a third-party administrator, or an employer. There is no self-service delete for these accounts, and that is deliberate: a case manager’s account is attached to the cases they are responsible for, and removing it is a decision for the organization rather than for one person.
To have your account removed, contact your organization’s MACS administrator. If you are not sure who that is, or your organization no longer exists, email macs@somaaillc.com and we will help you find the right route.
Records your care team is required to keep for your claim are retained under the rules that govern workers’ compensation files. Those rules are set by your state and by your employer’s insurer, not by MACS, and they apply to the claim record however it is stored.
This is the part people most often expect to work the other way round, so it is worth being plain about: deleting your MACS account does not delete your claim. If you want to know what your care team holds, or to ask them to change or remove something in it, that request goes to them — see our Privacy Policy, which explains how those requests are handled and who decides them.
Deleting from inside the app takes effect immediately.
An emailed request is acknowledged within two business days and passed to the organization that administers the account. We will tell you when it has been actioned.
